Storm Drain Maintenance Checklist for Central Florida Properties

Turn recurring drainage complaints into a defined maintenance inquiry for your community or commercial property.

Map the locations

Mark accessible inlets, catch basins and known connecting pipes on a site plan. Identify where ponding occurs and where previous work was performed. Photos taken from safe accessible areas can help explain the issue.

Gather the history

  • Dates and locations of recurring complaints
  • Previous cleaning and inspection records
  • Known debris sources or nearby construction
  • Areas that remained problematic after earlier service

Arrange access

Identify parking restrictions, tenant activity, traffic coordination and suitable work windows. Ask how material removal and disposal will be handled in the proposed scope.

Record work and revisit unresolved issues

Keep a record of the locations serviced and observations requiring follow-up. If problems continue after debris is removed, discuss pipe inspection and whether broader drainage evaluation is needed. Set future maintenance intervals from actual conditions; cleaning does not guarantee flood prevention.
